Ronelle Hart: Psychologist

I have been in private practice  for 14 years, treating people suffering from a broad range of psychological syndromes, such as depression and anxiety, the effects of trauma and grief, relationship difficulties, addictions as well as people living with chronic illness and trying to cope with the psychological impact there-of on their lives.

I see mostly adults, individually or as couples when required as in relationship counselling.

I believe that therapy has at its core the aim of reducing suffering, emotional as well as sometimes physical, since our psyches are embodied and what we experience emotionally will impact our sense of physical wellbeing and vice versa.

I have had training in a wide range of clinical modalities from cognitive behaviour therapy, to more recently in mindfulness based and body centered approaches to psychotherapy. These are just some of the ways in which we can learn in therapy to understand and accept ourselves, and free ourselves up from old patterns of responding to our world which often create unnecessary suffering.

Psychotherapy is not only about symptomatic relief of a set of clinical syndromes, but also about long lasting changes in the way we relate to ourselves and the world, improving an inner sense of wellbeing which in turn enables us to have rich and fulfilling life experiences and satisfying relationships.

Although short term interventions (6 to 10 sessions) can help an individual start processing for instance a traumatic incident, longer term therapy is often recommended, as the healing which happens may be deeper and longer lasting.

My consultation hours in Rivonia are:

Wednesdays and Fridays, first session at 12h30, last session at 16h15.

I am contracted to most medical aids, but also offer private rates.
